When I moved in I power rodded the 2 inch pipe sections and flushed them with boiling water and green gobbler solution and i havent had any issue since i moved in about 18 months ago. 

I am currently in the US on an f1 visa (student visa) and get my green card within a year.

To heat that same space will require the same amount of energy whether it comes from propane or electric heat.
