I haven't found a clear path of getting out of this standoff, short of some large population reduction event, billionaires giving up their fortunes or developing nations offering cheaper labor.

I’d also recommend books like Short-Term Rental, Long-Term Wealth by Avery Carl and The Book on Managing Rental Properties for a strong foundation.

I won't hold my breath because rich white billionaires don't go to jail in America, especially not when they are the president.

I'd recommend:Reading both Short Term Rental, Long Term Wealth by Avery Carl and also the Tax Strategies books by Amanda Han The tax strategies books may be a bit overkill but even if you hire someone - which in this situation, you should - I think it's great foundational knowledge!
