I opted to just use the Kwikset rekeyable locks.

The locks are what are always expensive and what I consider high. 

Thanks  The main thing I look at aside from a reasonable wear layer and pattern & texture (hides scratches) is the quality of the locking system.

Also ask if the rate is locked prior to full loan approval or once the loan is approved.

I've been using non smart keypad locks (Schlage BE365) for 1 decade + and it has been good.
