New to Short Term Rentals

Posted

I am trying to get into the short term rental game. I am very new to this but not new to RE investing, I am a commercial developer in New York. I want to expand business outside of New York with Short Term Rentals. Does anyone have any tips, sources, websites or anything really to help me find markets good for STR investing? Also if you have any reading suggestions for any STR topics that would be awesome.

Hey Michael - I am a STR PM company owner and broker in Tampa, FL. Probably about half of my clients are from NY area and have second homes here. My first question to you is this going to be purely an investment or do you see yourself owning something that produces but also has some personal use aspect? If it is purely investment I would consult some readily available "best market" data on AirDNA/others and then contact STR specialists in the respective markets and go from there. If you have some intention on investing in a place you like, I would research those markets investability and then contact specialists and go from there. If FL is of any interest I am happy to help ;)
