Why did Buffett & Berkshire just bet on Housing? Rate Cuts are Coming... 📉

Don't look know but the Oracle of Omaha is on the move..with a near $1B Bet on housing.

What does he know? That as the general economy slows...the FED will loosen monetary policy and rates will drop. Some analysts are forecasting a 100% chance of a September rate cut - and although the immediate impact on mortgage rates might be muted, the writing is on the wall.

In an increasingly extreme scenario...the US Administration will get their way (why wouldn't they at this point?) with Powell possibly being shown the exit and rates reaching the floor in an epic boom cycle reminiscent of the pandemic but with more investor risk and leverage.

By some estimates there are 500K+ buyers on the sidelines that would engage when rates reach 6%..personally I think if rates were in the 5%-6% range buyer demand would be off the charts, anything below that and all bets are off as there is a lot of backlogged demand and borrowers locked into pandemic era loans that would absolutely consider moving.

Where do you see rates by the Summer of 2026?
