Planning Exit - TIC or no TIC

I plan to 1031 in 2014 and I'm starting to investigate options. I previously 1031 into a TIC which is still doing really well. I'm happy with it but have heard many horror stories. I feel blessed to have done so well but I'm nervous about repeating.

Are there any new (non-more of the same, just larger) options I should consider?
