Assigning Payroll to Properties/Projects in Quickbooks

Does anyone do any payroll job costing in Quickbooks? What I'm looking to do is assign payroll numbers to particular projects (classes in Quickbooks) so the cost of that payroll can be included in the total cost of the rehab project rather than just in lump sums on the business. I was told by Quickbooks that this can only be done with an app plugin but I wanted to see if anyone knew of a work around. Thanks!
