Capital for hotel developments - how to attract big capital?

Question

I have always envisioned that resort on the beach in a tropical country. What avenues of investment make these projects happen? Do government development funds play a large role in this, or is the resort development market primarily dominated by private investors?

I have worked with a global developer in the past, and would certainly not do it again. These companies are fully invested in their bottom line, and are fully willing to nickel and dime their contractors and smaller investors, as it nets more profit for the company as a whole. Only reasonable way in my opinion to go tropical is a JV with fellow investors, or a house hack situation where you slowly expand out using something like AirBNB.

I believe the market is primarily dominated by the large hotel development firms such as Marriott, Hilton, and Holiday Inn. If you have a lot in mind, maybe you can submit a proposal to the development firm? Anyone else on BP willing to weigh in on this?

@Shiela Zhao I would think more private. Would be nice to know a guy who controls Billion $ hedge funds. There are foreign conferences every year that held in Europe and China where you can find those people specifically looking to invest in those markets.. Also keep in mind on what happened to St Martin. Irma might have pushed away some parties.

@Roy N. Hi Roy, I sometimes have a careless sense of humour, and I apologize if I have offended you. Socialism is still a major force in Canadian politics today, and that is well documented.

If you are scanning through all of my past participation on biggerpockets, then it is clear that all my posts are not a "keyword stuffing echo-chamber", I enjoy reusing terms, is that a crime? I see that you are already going through and changing my posts, that's fair, you are the boss here. I would appreciate being notified first however.

While I suspect you were merely trying to be flippant, it would seem your misunderstanding of your neighbours to the north draws upon an ignorant stereotype.

There is also a vast distinction between "social benefits" for citizenry (which exist in both our countries), a "socialist nation" (which neither Canada or the U.S.A. are) and corporate welfare (which is alive and well in both our countries).

I invite you to step outside the keyword stuffing echo-chamber in which all your existing participation on BP has been and participate in the larger community  - it would be an opportunity to learn about your neighbours.

You may be able to get government assistance for a hotel development - in a socialist nation. I recommend you try that investment form in a place like Canada where the social benefits are very strong.
