Working with an real estate attorney

I’m looking to buy my first single family home or even maybe a duplex in the next 6 months (doing seller financing) I want to find the best real estate attorney that works best for me in advance. I was just wondering what kind of questions should I ask the attorney to determine if he/she is right for me? How to recognize the good ones from the bad ones?

I would call a few and leave messages for a call back. If they take they time to call you back and answer questions, then that is a good sign. Ask them if they do all real estate or if they also do litigation, etc... If they  have too many different types of law they perform, then it may be a bad fit also. Personal referrals from friends, family, real estate agents, lenders, and builders are a great way to start looking.

Good Luck on finding the right attorney and on that first SFH! Aaron
