Rental Investment in Europe

Greetings, all.  Newish investor here, seriously considering investing in a rental property in Europe (given some lower prices and the near parity between the Dollar and Euro).  Thinking of either a long- or short-term rental in one of the big cities in Italy, like Rome. We have people on the ground who would be able to run the day-to-day and help with the legal issues.  Any experience with this?
