Escrow or not to escrow on property taxes and home owners ins.

Hello BP friends, I am in the process of closing on my 1st investment property. Yaaah! My lender wants to know if I want to escrow my property and Homeowners insurance. I have no info on which is preferred and if escrowing will increases my costs. Can you please help?  Thanks in advance!
