Starting out as an overseas investor
Hi everyone,
I've been following the forums and podcast for a while, and now it's time for me to take it one step further :)
I do not live in the states, but as my home country has a really tough real estate market which requires a lot of capital and has really low yields, I want to invest in the US.
I currently have around ~250k and I want to start by purchasing a rental property to generate cash flow, then if it goes well slowly grow and add more units. I have a few questions:
1. As an oversea investor, who are the professionals I need to contact? A realtor, lawyer, accountant, management company? Where would be a good place to find them?
2. If I want my first unit to be around 80-100k, would you recommend buying it entirely with my capital or taking some amount of mortgage? And is it even possible for me to get a loan when I am not living in the US?
Thank you all in advance

@Roy Gottesdiener @Chinyere Okoli I hope I can answer your questions. I am a fellow investor and Realtor working in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area of Texas. Great market because of constant job growth, very high occupancy rates, low purchase price for a good 3/2/2 home too. Also each state in the US is very different in its laws with regards to landlord/tenant relations. Texas is what we call very landlord friendly. In short, laws favor us landlords when it comes to landlord/tenant relations. I could keep going on and on about the advantages of this market. But more importantly I have a network of attorneys, property management company's, and real estate attorneys, to help you with your investment needs. More importantly I have licensed and reputable lenders that work with out of state investors to lend them monies to help them acquire investment properties. Thus, you can leverage your $250K to purchase more than just one property here in the DFW area. Send me a PM if you want to learn more.
