How to find reputable General Contractors in my area?

Hello,

I am located in Northern California/Bay Area.

What is the best way to find trusted/reputable GCs in this area? YELP? Angie's List/CraigsList?

Or is going to meetups and connecting with other RE folks the best way?

I am looking for a GC for a rehab project, so wanted to pick your collective brains.

Any/all help would be much appreciated.
