In need of advice...

Hello everyone! I'm new here and a complete newbie to REI. I have a mentor, am a member of our local REIA, sent out a mailing, and during the last two weeks, have received about 100 seller calls/e-mails. I'm starting out with wholesaling and my mentor is walking me through the steps so I don't make any mistakes (hopefully, of course :-) My question is this. I live in Tulsa, OK. I'm almost ready to take my RE exam for my licensure and I plan on becoming a realtor to learn more about the business and I figure this is a good way to get into the business further. I have large future goals but right now, I'm just needing to learn all I can and get by in life, as far as bills go. I have been told by a broker and other realtors that it is basically illegal to become a realtor and wholesale (most of them don't even know what wholesaling means). I'm frustrated because I want a license to have access to the MLS to be able to run my own comps and get access to deals I wouldn't have otherwise. I'm just thoroughly confused; what do I say to brokerages to explain what I'm doing? I would love to sell houses as an agent but also do wholesaling and eventually move on from there. Any help on this would be appreciated!
