While we are very early in the process of investing in real estate I wanted to get some insight on the proper way to vet a contractor to ensure we dont get burned in the process. Any info or advice would be appreciated.

I wouldn't recommend you find one yourself and vet. Go to local real estate meet ups and get referrals. If you get a few for the same guy then that's a good way to start then you need to see his work hands on for yourself..
