Ever use FHA to buy at auction or other non traditional route

I was thinking about trying to buy something using an FHA rehab loan. I actually used a 203K (non- streamline) on the house I'm living in now. I did all the architectural exhibits, estimates, budgets, and construction related documents myself. I used a friend of mine as my GC, but I did all of the work myself.
It was kind of a PITA using that loan initially, but it would allow for some rehab escrow funding?
Anybody used one of these rehab type loans for property investment?
Thanks for any info.
