Investing in Muscle Shoals, Sheffield or Tuscumbia Alabama

Any realtors or investors in this area that have been doing rental properties in this area? My wife and I will be moving to this area and are curious to know if there is enough of a market for renters. My wife is from the area but we don't live there currently. We will be moving there soon but will only be there for up to a year. Wondering if we should buy or rent? Would it be a good idea to buy and then rent it out? Not sure what the renting market is there and my wife says that most people in those areas just own homes. Thoughts?

Hi Simon!

I currently live in Florence but have lived in Muscle Shoals and Sheffield in the past. The market in Muscle Shoals is on fire right now. If you can find a fixer upper just about anywhere in muscle shoals and fix it while you are in town, you could easily turn around and rent it out once you move for decent can flow. If you buy in Sheffield, focus on the York Terrace subdivision and the Rivermont subdivision. If possible, avoid elanything else in Sheffield. Tuscumbia is a great area if you are near downtown. Florence has many good areas, but avoid anything West of Pine street and be careful with anything along Veterans Drive and Huntsville Road. Plenty of nice areas along both, but it is hit or miss.

Good luck!

Nolan
