18 year old looking to buy first property

Hey All,

18 year old new into the bigger pockets and real estate community. I’m a community college student closing out on my first year and have about 15k saved as of right now. I live at home and have no expenses and between a part time job and Door dash should be netting about 30k for the next 3 years while in college. Just recently started learning about buying a duplex and living in the other half and growing a portfolio really excites me. Since I will be living at home for the next 3 years at minimum with no expenses and a decent net salary I was wondering the feasibility of acquiring a property at this age.it should be noted I live in the Concord , New Hampshire area. I know I may not have close to enough knowledge but I feel after a few months of learning I’d be ready to buy. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Josh, welcome to BP! First off, it sounds like you’re in a great position, especially for your age. I’d say the first step would be to get preapproved by a lender to see how much you could qualify for. I have a couple different lenders that I could recommend to you if you’d like. Then once you know how much money you have to work with you can start working with an agent to get you into the best property for your goals. I’d be more than happy to help if that’s something you’re interested in. Keep listening to the podcasts as much as possible and I recommend checking out the books too!
