Ready to get started in REI!!

Posted

Hey guys! Been following this community for a while now and very excited to get started! I had always planned on starting with house hacking and go from there, but I have a bit of a unique situation. Since graduating college my wife and I have been traveling all over working seasonal jobs so we can explore! Because of that we don't stay in one place for more than a few months and can't really get our own place. I've been thinking of trying to do a long-distance BRRRR but am not sure how smart that would be for my first REI. Any suggestions? Thanks!

@Ryan Schrope You want to plant a tree and grow roots before even considering REI. Sure you could try a long distance BRRRR but how much harder to you think it will be? Without much experience negotiating for deals, budgeting rehab, swinging hammers, or narrowing down a niche in the game it's going to be REALLY hard.

You're obviously a smart guy. You want the ball in your court, not someone else's who is getting to deal before you can. Adding layers, building a team, and getting boots on the ground is wonderful but good luck accomplishing that from another state. It's not impossible but unlikely. Some successful investors establish a team and move to another markets and try new things. My point is they created a home base, invested, and crushed.
