Door Knock Vs. Door Hangers

If someone has tried both door-knocking and door hangers. Which strategy do you think is more effective? I've done both, and the results were not significant with either. Most people don't bother opening the door when door-knocking, so I wonder if it's better to leave a flyer or a door hanger with market trends, coupons, recipes, etc.

Would love to know what is working for you when farming a neighborhood.

Knocking is better because it gives you that leg up on the competition with the potential to have a personal conversation. If they don't answer, leave a door hanger.
