Realtor as a career

Hello all. I am thinking of making a transition into working as a real estate agent. I already have several investment properties and I am looking for more. I am very interested in the business. I currently have a comfortable job making about $60K a year and have decent health insurance, but it is not related to real estate in any way. I am willing to work long and hard. Can I realistically expect to make anything close to what I do now in the near future? What are your experiences? How do you all manage to have healthcare insurance?

Go for it.  You don't have to be in a market with high priced listings. Average salary for a Realtor is around 40k, but that includes part timers. Full timers make $55k a year and that is average. Many agents make over 100k a year or more.  It takes time and dedication to make it. It's all about networking, meeting people and keeping in touch with them. Once you get some business you can start a team, then let other agents do your work for you. I've got ten people on my team now.
