3rd Party Negotiators

Is there a conflict of interest for a 3rd Party Negotiator to negotiate a Short Sale? - I'm the selling agent with an offer in on an "approved" short sale. The listing agent does not keep communication lines open and refers everything to this negotiator for updates, status, etc. This 3rd party is an attorney with "Loan Modification Department Manager" in their e-mail signature. I'm just curious if it's really in their best interest to see a successful Short Sale
