Hiring Contractor: First time, need advice

Michael Herr

Posted

I have been buying g and holding SFH's for 5yrs, but have done almost everything myself. I have an appliance/HVAC repair guy, an electrician and a roofer.

I have been my own GC, plumber, electrician for smaller things, and service calls.

In order to scale and keep on doing rehabs/hold strategy, I need to let go control and let others help me.

Looking for general recommendations, advice and resources for hiring contractors.

I had two contractors look at a job 4 days ago, and neither has turned in a bid, even after trying to follow up 2days ago.

I know that investor's issues with contractors are sometimes the investor themselves. I think that might be the case here.

Thanks

Mike

@Michael Herr Even we contractors have problems with other contractors sometimes. When you have someone come over to look at a job and they're to irresponsible to call and say they aren't interested, it's to little, they're to busy, or they're just to rich to do the job, find someone else!

The question is, was it the contractor, or you? What is it that you are looking for a contractor to do? Is it a job for a contractor, or would a handyman type be able to manage it? (though every state has their own criteria on contractors and handymen, etc., so check yours)
