I need a contractor in Detroit to REHAB a Motel (60 rooms)

Can anyone recommend a good GC in Detroit for a Motel Rehab? We're looking to get started right away with this project. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

So as you say in another response, this is about learning and sharing our experience in real estate.  It's not Angie's List where we recommend contractors.  Great contractors, in my experience tend to be a closely held tool.  I wouldn't want my best contractors to start working with someone that I referred them to if they were going to besmirch my name, or treat them horribly. I want them to trust me, and continue to have a great working relationship with me.

Troy, I wasn't referring to your first post when I mentioned "smart ***" comment. I was actually referring to your second post where you commented "This isn't Angie's List". 

You seem to be putting entirely too much weight on a simple recommendation on a public forum. It is NOT THAT SERIOUS! How do you go from making a simple recommendation, to ASSUMING someone would besmirch your name and treat the contractor horribly. That is absolutely absurd! 

For all you know, I could have a multimillion dollar project for the contractor that you recommend and treat them wonderfully. Someone else on this forum could also be searching for a contractor in the Detroit area, and have an even bigger project. Stop assuming the worst! The initial question doesn't even call for the over thinking that you're doing.

Only a petty and selfish person would feel the need to guard the name of a great contractor. Besides, if a contractor is really that good then I will be able to google their name and find other reviews praising their work. People who do good work are never kept a secret. It's called "Word of Mouth" advertising, and it's very effective.

If you feel the need to guard any information related to what this site was founded for, then why did you join?

 I must be communicating my thoughts incorrectly.  I apologize.  But let me try one more time to make my point clear:

James, I don't know you from any other Dave, Dick, or Earl.  

You might be the best guy in the world.  You might also be the worst. I don't know.

On a networking platform, where you are looking to access other peoples networks, there needs to be some level of personal connection.  A picture, a completed profile, a history of postings where you get to learn about a person. Without it you are an anonymous person. I personally would not open up my network to an anonymous person.

Why wouldn't I?  My network is like my family.  I want to make sure they are being taken care of.  I want them to be busy and making money. If I recommend them to someone I want to know the caliber of the person that I am recommending them too. If the person whom I recommend them too is not of a high caliber, then I lose a step in that ladder of trust and value I bring to the relationship.  And next time I recommend them to someone they may not be interested in working with them because of 'last time'.

A lot of GC's are disposable. One who is not is a valued asset.

Let me pivot the discussion and make another point. If you have a realtor or broker who is bringing you pocket deals, are you going to refer them to someone else that you haven't met and don't know if they are going to be competing for the same deals as you?

All that being said, I saw an older post that had only one response from a new member. I jumped on board to give you a recommendation on how to improve your visibility on the site and make it a better, more profitable network for you.
