Installing Insulation on old home

I am preparing a budget and scheduling for my rehab for an old home built in 1954. The walls are plastered and I don’t know if their is existing insulation within the walls. Does anyone have experience with installing insulation with plastered Sheetrock? (Stockton Ca) Thank you! Gerald
