Is there any way to limit my keywords to my specific area?

You can make your keyword alerts specific by adding the location next to your main keyword here https://www.biggerpockets.com/alerts.  For ex. on the first box type your main keyword and the second box the location/area. 

You can also click on exclude some keywords and type locations, cities, states that you don't want to receive alerts from. This will lessen the alerts that you get from areas that you don't work with.
