Refined Search?

Is it possible to refine a search of the forums? Many of the words I search for turn up dozens (if not more) pages or results but what if I only wan to search for threads active within the past 3 months, for example?

I love that old threads are still "active", per se, but a lot of info is outdated and weeding through the search results is cumbersome.
