I was a wannabe REI a few years ago and started googling. When I found a post by BP I was really impressed with the amount and type of information provided, so I poked around...

Since then, and 99% thanks to BiggerPockets for the amazing info and resources, I have become an "actual" REI - I close on my 23rd unit in a few weeks.

I still consider myself quite a newbie in most regards, but hope to build on this foundation and start to scale over this year and next.

    I began searching for podcasts on real estate to listen to on my commute each day. I found BP and after listening to a few podcasts I went back and listened to everything for the last two years. I have not missed one since and have learned so much I took the plunge with getting my first home under contract this month. I really feel BP has given me so many tools to make the dive into REI! I love it and wish I had found it years earlier. Thank you BP!

    I heard another agent in my office talking about it during new agent orientation  so I joined and have attended a couple of the webinars and have been reading some posts. Just wanted a forum where I could read and learn more about real estate in general and eventually get into investing.

    I was getting an appraisal done on my primary home to purchase a rental. Towards the end of the appraisal, I asked the person doing the appraisal what else he did. And he started to talk about investing in real state. That sounds great. He said, if you have questions about real state investing, here is my business card. After purchasing the rental, I send the person an e-mail that I was looking for a way go charge the two tenants for separate utilities bills, as there was only 1 meter and I had installed sub meters, so i was looking for an excel spreadsheet. He said, woow, that spreadsheet would be great, but I'm not good with Excel, so check out biggerpockets.com, you might find help in the forums. And here I am as of March 2018.

    It was October 22, 2014 - I googled passive income podcasts, I found biggerpockets - weird name, but let's listen.  Episode #93, Erik Stark.  I signed up that day.  I think there was a discount if I went pro ;) I went back and listened to #1 up to present.  @Brandon Turner used to answer all or our questions back then personally.  I had never had a rental at that point, but thought that it made sense.  I listened to every podcast with a notebook and took notes and rewound it if i didn't understand something.  I took out every book they had on being a landlord from the library.  Every single episode was like seeing the world for the first time - even in areas that I wasn't going to pursue, there always seems to be some little nugget of knowledge that I could use in my much smaller situation.  Honestly, it was pretty epic.  I took out all the books that people listed as their top books.  Even now I often search for a notebook to write notes in when I listen to the latest podcast.  Thanks, biggerpockets - you changed my life!!

    I read Brandon Turner's book 'how to buy real estate with no/low money down'!

    I wouldn't buy a book with that title anymore (I know there are other ways to do this stuff, not looking for shortcuts anymore) but I'm sure glad I bought it and was led to this site. The book probably encourages readers to check out this website every five pages or so :)

    A coworker I had known from a previous assignment got me interested enough to listen to the Podcasts. I have since bought Brandon's books on rental property investing as well as the book on land lording.  Great reads, both educational and entertaining.

    I am hoping to close on my first investment property next month.

    I went to a free 'real estate guru' event in Los Angeles (where they get people to sign up for courses that cost thousands) and I left without buying anything and Googled the gurus name and the word scam and found a BP article. The rest is history.  :-)

    I had someone mention it during a Cashflow 101 game. I am actually surprised I did not come across it via a Google search first. Now that I am here though I think it is a fantastic resource. I cannot thank Brandon, Josh and the rest of the team for the amount of information we get from this. Thank you everyone!

    Property investing forum . AU  its the Australian version of  BP  back in that time Aussies were buying the heck out of US properties so I was lending my opinions on where and what to watch out for.. that is what led me to write the

    e book perfect storm for out of state or country investors..  to protect themselves.

    Engelo Rumora the DINGO  said I should check this site out.. he made an intro.. and off I went.

    also it was a little difficult at first for me to figure out since I have never done a on line forum before.. but a few years in I can finally figure most of how to work it out.. I still get stuck though .. and certainly fall for certain things.. and took me a while to under stand what a troll was.. just the basic old man stuff.. LOL

    However its one heck of a site.. used to good it will really help folks.. you do have to watch out for scammers though I have learned that.. but all in all great site great people..

    I was searching for answers to some specific RE questions after buying my first SFR. The BP site showed up repeatedly with relevant threads from the forums or blogs.

    I am part of real estate education investment group, and 1 of the members seemed to be well informed on all topics. so I commented on his post and he responded " what you don't know about bigger pockets podcast" I listened to like 4 in a row and been hooked since. I have to say it took me way to long to finally get on the site and build my profile but I am here now!!!

    I was reading “The Ultimate Beginner’s Guide To Real Estate Investing” and that is where I saw BiggerPockets.Com in many of the books references which turns out very helpful.

    I had been looking for the best way start my Real estate investing journey and i kept running across references to the letters BP. I finally googled  "Real estate  BP" and Biggerpockets came up. I have been blown away with wealth of knowledge i have received from BP.

    i was listening to a  madfientist podcast!! was totally into the whole stocks and retiring in 12 years with 600k to use the 4& SWR butt.....i already own a small multi and have a good feel for real-estate so i made the switch! tmrw im going to liquidate my 30k from my taxable account, hitting up the realtor and trying to get into a low cost condo to rent out and start slowww.... end goal is 10 properties and ill be comfortable to live off them all.
