How to pick the next state for direct mail campaigns

I was building a database of owners in PA state for the last 12 months and sending the mailers to those owners. I will continue to do it. However, I want to move to the next state so I expand my marketing area. How do you pick the next state? Do you close your eyes and point to the US map? (just kidding :) ) I would love to hear your suggestions.

Thank you

Personally I keep it all local and plan to keep it that way as I PM my entire portfolio. But then that's just me.
