Buyer reaching out directly to renter during option period

Amber B.
Posted

My husband who is a realtor in TX is trying to sell our rental property.

We are in option period.

Our renter called us today to inform us that buyer texted him to make inquiries about his profession, background check, and credit score.

This was shocking for me to hear because we have been super transparent with buyer and buyer's agent about property, renter's lease etc.

Is this action not a a direct violation of privacy rules and regulations? Do this action not have serious consequences with Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) for both buyer's agent and his client?

Please advise how I should tackle this so I can protect both my tenant and myself.
