Escalation clause in Offer

Hey amazing community folks,

I'm about to make an offer, and I want to make it strong. Thinking of throwing in an escalation clause. 

Any idea on if I can set a MAX price with that? And how does it actually work? Does the seller's agent notify and share numbers from another offer and let the buyer know they're accepting escalated bid?
