DEED QUESTION: notice of purchaser's interest?????

What is a notice of purchaser's interest? this is recorded in the deed section of a house we were looking at during our driving for dollars. Dose that mean someone has bought it? 

Usually it says Warranty deed or Quit claim deed, etc...
