Removing a Mobile Home from a Lot

I'm interested in buying a mobile home and moving it onto a piece of land in the future.  The problem that I'm facing is that most of the mobile home parks are saying that it can not be moved after I purchase it.  My question is if I own it, can they really tell me what I can do with it?  This doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Hi Nicole,

If you buy a mobile home in a park that is under a lease, then you are then obligated by the terms of that lease, at least that is how it is in Colorado.

So, for example, let's say that your seller obtained park financial assistance to move the unit into the park.  Your seller signed a 4 year lease, then sold to you after 2 years.  You will have to leave the home in the park for the remaining 2 years.  This is how park owners recoup their investment when paying to bring in homes to fill empty spaces.

I assume you have looked into the costs of moving a home.  Typically, I never want to move a home if I can avoid it, especially if I have to pay the moving costs.

Good luck,
