Where to start investing?

Hi BP community! I have a quick question I was hoping to get feedback on.

My wife and I are considering getting into RE investing but as you all know, location is key. The market we currently live in (Nashville, TN) seems way to hot for a beginning investor and we were wondering if you lovely folks had any input as to where we should get started? We are looking at the idea of moving to Raleigh-Durham or Charlotte, NC (or really anywhere close by to those cities). Does anyone here have an opinion they would like to share regarding those areas?

We are looking to get started by combining house-hacking and Brrrr with an FHA mortgage on a multi-plex (similar to what Brandon Turner did starting out).

Any input is greatly appreciated!
Thanks all,

Solomon

@Solomon Smith I would start in your backyard of Nashville. Who cares if the market is hot? Just means you need to work to find a deal. I would not abandon a city just because it's hot. I love that it's hot. That means I have investors who want to buy, I have buyers who are buying, and I have sellers that want to capture the equity in their properties. You just have to work to find something and take action
