Would private lender funds be....?

Would it be better than getting transactional funding to close deals faster?  At least with private lender funds a person has more exit strategies besides only using the transactional funding for strictly wholesaling for one day. I lost out on a lot of deals because another investor had the money to buy the property at a higher price than what I was willing to pay. I am rethinking maybe transactional funding might not be as good compared to having cash to buy the house outright and not restricted for wholesaling purposes either.
