I am in a situation where electrical wire needs to be re-routed for about 6 ft... My electrician tells me that "technically" we need to pull a permit for that.... Seriously???
I’m most locales, yes, you ‘technically’ do need a permit for anything more than a device/fixture replacement.
But what is he looking for? You’re to nod and smile and let him do it without a permit? Or is he refusing to do it without one?
I don’t know any electrician (or tradesman for that matter) who doesn’t consider something like that a gray area and typically won’t pull a permit.
What’s your question?
@Diane G. i see you are in california installing more than 4 ft of electrical wire without a permit carries a jail time of 5 to 7 years hard labor .
@Mike McCarthy - sorry, you mean should or should not pull a permit?
