Alternate to a new Chimney Liner?

Hi all - I am wondering what are the options for Fireplace chimney?

Currently - we have a wood burning fireplace that needs a new liner (~$2,500 - $3,000).  Our first alternative was to switch from wood burning to gas which will also require a $2,500 liner, but safer.  Do we have other options besides closing the fireplace?

Where do you buy the liners from? In case that's our only resort.
