Do you think it is better to invest in East Bay (of SF Bay Area) or Washington DC? Which will appreciate better in the coming years? Any thoughts?

Hi Natalie,

Both markets are expensive with the Bay Area being more.  If you have the funds to invest in either one of them.  Invest in the one that is local to you.  This will make a world of a difference.

The Bay Area is a straight appreciation play.  Perfect for an investor that has 50% down or paying cash.  Just wants to park the money in a solid scarce investment and play the buy and hold for 10+yrs.  The East Bay has the best value, it's still expensive but I see lots of condos that make a lot of sense.
