Buying land for the first time

Hello,

I’m extremely new to this so please forgive my basic questions. I’m planning on buying a couples acres of desert land in Southern California. I want to put a trailer on the land, and possibly build a house eventually.

-What should my very first steps be?

-What information about the land is most important? (Water, electric, sewege, road access, etc)

Who, if anyone, do I have to hire to help with the purchase? Lawyer? Someone to survey the land? Etc.

Do I need to get an inspection and/or survey of the land?

What legal questions do I need to ask? How do I protect myself legally? Any other important questions I need to ask/ consider?

THANK YOU KINDLY!

-Mike
