Do "instant offers" from "iBuyers" really exist?

Has anyone had any dealing with an iBuyer who offers a true "instant offer"? Every iBuyer I've tried to sell to claims to have an instant offer, but if you go to their website, you upload the property and wait for the offer to come in manually via email days later through an agent.

Is "instant offer" just a marketing ploy? I don't see anything different about what iBuyers are doing than what has been done for decades. But if you read any articles online about the iBuyers they all write about their instant offers, and how different it is. Is it? Can someone educate me on what I'm missing?
