Looking to Buy SFH for Rental Purpose

I am a new investor from out-of-state and would like to purchase my first SFH rental in the North Austin area preferably in a 25-mile radius from Austin. I am specifically looking to rent it out based on a rent-by-the-room model. Any guidance around things to consider with this strategy or additional hidden costs would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
