Inspection period and Earnest Money?

Hello, I've heard from the Reo Rockstar to not put a inspection clause to get the offer accepted and they will automatically send you a 7 day inspection. Are there situations that they accept, but don't send a inspection addendum and basically have no way of backing out? Has this happened to anyone or am I just being overly cautious. Thanks
