We want to buy a neighboring  property by short sale. The owner is giving the bank permission to talk to me. Can I accomplish this myself or do I need a realtor?

Thanks

Yep, they will make the seller list it on the open market for 5 days or so. Actually, you're probably better off Not talking to the bank, as your name will be in the file and in a couple of weeks when the purchase agreement and short sale package are submitted.....the fact that your name as the buyer matches the previous inquiry/authorization, the bank will be justifiably concerned the property didn't truly get full market exposure. An experienced short sale knows how to "play the game" with a buyer already in hand for the 4-5 days the listing needs to be "active".("keys not available" "owner not available", etc)
