I have been told short sales are no longer a good strategy in the current market because a certain bank restictions. true or false

I think what Rob is talking about regarding flipping is when the investor locks up the short sale and immediately sells to another buyer without disclosing to the short sale lender. As far as it being "illegal" only if fraud is committed. It is perfectly legal to flip a short sale, but it can be done in an illegal way.

The OG question was, "Are short sales still a viable strategy" and the answer is YES - and that is fact, not opinion. Of course, there are several strategies with short sales. You can buy and hold for landlording, you can back to back flip, you can buy-rehab-flip, and although it is now very rare and hard to find title companies that will do it, you can also simultaneously close to wholesale flip.
