Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if someone who knows the ins and outs of bank mortgages knows if you can use an FHA loan with a friend to house hack a multi-family home?

Let me know if you have any questions!

Best,
Dave

Hi @David Flores,

I don't know the ins and outs of FHA bank mortgages as I have yet to use this type of loan. However, from discussions with banks on about similar topics, I would say yes it is possible.

My understanding is that you both would have to use the property as your primary residence, and you both would have to apply together on the loan application.

The best thing I can suggest is to call around to local banks in your area (at least 3) and ask them if their bank can do this for you.  The worst answer you'll get is a no.  In that case, you're right back where you started.  If they say yes, you're set!
