Asbestos Siding in Michigan

Can anyone relay professional or personal knowledge about asbestos siding? The house is 100 years old and 1600 sq ft and has asbestos siding with peeling paint. How expensive is it to remove? Can it be covered with vinyl? Can it be power washed and repainted? What is the most budget friendly and safe way of handling this? Thank you all!
