Don't Let Inspections Freak You Out
What's up fam!
Too many investors assume that they need to be EXPERT level General Contractors to be able to do new construction. It was a lie I was fed when I was starting out: "New Construction is ADVANCED Real Estate Investing."
It really isn't and I wish someone would have explained it to me.
First, I highly encourage you to build inside the city limits so that your build is subject to inspections.
This helps you by forcing you to find qualified, licensed contractors who have experience doing the work. I've learned a lot from them and from the city inspectors. We are on DAY 4 of the Framing and I'm always impressed at how quickly and smoothly these guys work through the process.
These are couple of duplexes I'm building (4 doors) in Texas.
The metal straps (Simpson Strong Tie) are part of the wind-bracing inspection that goes on the framing around the window. The framers know these details. I know it now because I've been doing it for about 5 years but I had no clue when I was first starting out.
