Talked with a building materials buyer today and they said prices have doubled. Any insight if/when they will return to pre-covid prices?

Wire and pvc pipe is up . labor is also up since its hard to find .

@William Coet Seems like only lumber and appliances have skyrocketed...everything else seems normal to me.

Now 7 months later it’s even more expensive and still going up!

My 2 cents on this: Covid has affected the supply chain across the board (not just construction). I think we are at peak (lumber has stabilized the past couple weeks) and it'll slowly self correct and by early 2021 we will be at early 2020 prices (or close). There is a lot of the labor force that had a bonus on staying on unemployment (just recently ended) plus everyone is learning to operate in the new normal. I look at every situation as if it is a "temporary" or "permanent" problem- and unless you think covid never goes away and the lack of housing supply (at least in my market) can solve itself without new construction then it'll self correct.
