Can you update Zoning from Single Family to Multi Family?

A subdivision went bankrupt and there are lots selling at a discounted price. 

The lots are zoned as Single Family how challenging is it to switch to a Multi Family zoned lot?

Reach out to the local zoning and planning departments, they are going to be able to tell you if it can be rezoned
