Airbnb Tax Plays You Actually Use (and Ones You Regret)
What’s up BP,
I’m Amir: investor out of Florida. Been running Airbnb properties for a bit now, and let’s just say the tax side of things is… layered.
Between navigating short-term rental loopholes, real estate professional status, material participation, cost segs, and the IRS watching us like hawks, it’s a lot.
So I’m curious:
What’s one legit tax strategy that actually moved the needle for you with STRs?
And on the flip side: what’s one move that sounded smart but ended up costing you?
Personally, I’ve seen some solid returns leveraging bonus depreciation, but I’ve also seen people get wrecked not understanding what “active participation” really means.
Would love to hear how you’re all approaching this. No theory, just real-world wins (and lessons).
Let’s trade notes.
